TWENTY THOUSAND LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA; or, The Marvelous and Exciting Adventures of Pierre Aronnax, Conseil, his Servant, and Ned Land, a Canadian Harpooner By Jules Verne NY: William L. Allison Co. Arundel Edition _________________________________________________________________________________ This hardcover antique copy of Verne's classic is bound in navy blue cloth with black and gilt stamped decoration. It shows no publication date, but all signs point to an 1870s edition. The pages of this copy are tanned with age and show light additional discoloration from age and use. A previous owner's name appears twice on the title page. The book has floral patterned endpapers with the panel preceding the title page removed. The binding of the book is a bit tender, but it is sturdy enough to tolerate proper handling. There is some exterior wear and fading as shown in our images above. On the whole this copy is in fair to good condition. 19th century copies of Verne's work are desirable and increasingly hard to find. This pretty old copy will look attractive on any shelf.
