Dinosaur Bone Fossil Juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex Metatarsal. DL#123 Geologic Time: Late Cretaceous 65 to 68 million years Geologic Formation: Hell Creek Locality: Montana Valued at: $350.00 This is a Dino Lab exhibit quality fossil. The specimen is a rare example of a metatarsal (ankle bone) from a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex from the Hell Creek formation of eastern Montana. The specimen is missing a section of the shaft and should be displayed separated to exhibit the hollow feature of the bone. Tyrannosaur bones have a unique porcelain look and feel. Its also is a great teaching aid for driving the dino/bird relationship home. This is an exceptional specimen! Though we have about 40 T. rex specimens in museums today—they are still rare finds and none of them are 100% complete. Fossil finds in Canada suggest they lived in small social groups like lion prides. They hunted hadrosaur and ceratopsian herds of the North American floodplains. Packs of tyrannosaurs picked off the old and weak and scavenged just like lions. This specimen was meticulously prepared by our staff preparators. This certified Dino Lab specimen would be a great addition for the serious collector. This is a certified Dino Lab specimen. What does that mean read more
