Kurt S. Adler Smithsonian Institute Carousel ornaments 2 Ornate painted ponies These 2 beautifully painted ponies appear to be part of the Kurt S. Adler Smithsonian Carousel Christmas ornament series (32 pieces in the complete set) were purchased (as is) from a local yard sale. I have been in search of this series for over 10 years and have acquired my complete set, but am still buying when I see them, as they seem to be so hard to find. Unfortunately, I don't have any information on these 2 horses (if anyone does, PLEASE contact me and share what you know about them!). It would only be a guess, but they may have originally been sold at the Smithsonian Institute gift shop. In all honesty, I don't know if they have ever been displayed. The bottom part of the box is missing one the horse with box. Upon inspection, I see no flaws (please, I'm not an expert, just an enthusiast) The hand-painted detail looks crisp and doesn't appear to be faded on eithr of the horses. The ribbons around poles are secure and I cannot see any cracks at the base of the poles (on either horse).
