Kabamba Jasper Polished Stone SlabThis Kabamba Jasper fossil slab is polished on one side, natural rough around the edges.It is 6 inches by 3 inches and 5 mm thick. It weighs .26 lbs. and could be recut into cabochons.Kabamba Jasper is a lovely green orbicular jasper from Madagascar. Kabamba Jasper is a sedimentary fossil, a stromatolite algae.Stromatolites are the oldest known fossils, dating back more than 3 billion years.Basically stromatolites are prokaryotes (sort of an ancient cousin to algae) that thrived in warm aquatic environments and built reefs much the same way as coral does today. They are the oldest living organisms on the planet, and are believed to be the first living organisms on Earth.
