Artist: signed "Kaminsky" Subject: Rabbi Studying the Scripture" Medium: Oil on canvas Dimensions: 23 " x 19" (32" x 29" framed) Portrait of a Rabbi studying by the candlelight of a menorah. The wall behind the Rabbi glows a warm red while the rug below him is a cool blue. Style is modern and realistic. Textures of the Rabbi's beard, the melting candle wax and the ornate wood chair evince the , fine detail in the work. Work is signed by "Kaminsky", possibly Taos artist Dora Deborah Kaminsky. (Kaminsky was born in New York and moved to New Mexico where she spent the rest of her life. Kaminsky is featured in three volumes of "Who is Who in American Art.")
