You are bidding on a wood-fired lidded jar by ceramics icon Karen Karnes. DESCRIPTION: This unique piece from Karen Karnes has a full bodied rounded middle section that retracts into a straight walled rim upon which sits a quintessential KarnesâÂeÂ(tm) wire cut lid. The exterior of the jar emerged from the wood kiln with a most unusual textured âÂeÂoequiltâÂe comprised of mottled light and dark browns. A series of well placed cuts and slashes circle the exterior of the piece and became filled with dark brown glaze that contrasts nicely with the light gray stoneware body of the piece. The dark brown lid is adorned with a swirling striated effect that adds further richness to this most compelling work. The lidded jar measures 5âÂe w x 4 Ã,3⁄4âÂe h and is in mint condition- no chips, cracks or repairs. It bears the potterâÂeÂ(tm)s personal stamp. This is a no reserve auction.
