Greetings everyone! My latest lamp features a Pembroke Welsh Corgi mom taking her 'kids' out for an educational winter field trip. She is an avid bird lover and wants her pups to learn about some of the popular North American winter birds. One of her more enthusiastic red headed tri puppies is climbing up to take a closer look at a brilliant red cardinal. His copycat tri colored brother is stepping all over mom trying to follow in his 'pawsteps'. The other puppies are content to stay near mom and her Field Guide to Birds . More than likely she has cabin fever and this snowy winter's morning and just wants to get them out of house! The creation of this lamp began by using a candlestick that was made from pouring liquid clay into mold. The corgi mom and four puppies were individually hand sculpted out of ceramic clay. In addition to the Field Guide bird book are five winter birds enjoying the snowy greenery - two cardinals, one blue jay, a redheaded woodpecker and a gold finch. Also created by hand is the snow-covered greenery. This ceramic lamp has undergone two very high temperature kiln firings thus creating a glossy hardened finish. After removing it from my kiln, I had it wired into a lamp that can easily accommodate a regular sized 60-watt light bulb. The candlestick ceramic base of the lamp measures 3½" in diameter by 8" tall. read more
