For your consideration, I am offering this work of art. This is from an estate sale, and I can't tell you much more about it than what is printed on the back of the frame: Title: "Missouri, Kopf des Caribou!" Artist: Karl (or Carl) Bodmer Dated: 19 May, 1833 Description: Watercolor sketch of dead caribou calf Medium: Mezzotint with copper engraving Paper: very heavy, rag paper The original sketch was done by the artist during the Second Missouri Expedition (after Lewis & Clark)., -Prince Maximillian of Austria. You can do a internet search by the artists name or "Second Missouri Expedition" for more detailed information. This artwork is professionally matted behind clear glass and framed to a finished size of 15 1/2" x 12 1/2". Wired in the back and ready to hang. The tag on the back states that it was framed in chestnut circa 1850, but was re-framed professionally in 2000. The wood frame appears to be antique, but I cannot say for sure whether it is the original chestnut frame. Excellent condition. I will combine shipping on multiple purchases. Check out my other items ! Priority Mail is preferred, but will ship any method through the USPS or UPS. Not responsible for lost or damaged items if insurance is refused.
