Early Kate Greenaway pottery/porcelain saucer shaped 6 1/4" dish in an 8 1/2" twisted wire basket. The RAISED design shows two girls in country costume & bonnets pulling a wagon with a child in it. Hand-painted flowers on each side of the girls. No chips or cracks to the pottery; the bottom is engraved 84 JM. No broken or missing wire to the basket, but it is rusty--and I say that's fine for this early piece-- because it gives good contrast to the light colored pottery and the tan raised pattern. This was acquired from a person who had had it in her Kate Greenaway collection for over 30 years, and said it came from England. A stunning piece for KG and vintage wire basket collectors alike.
