Over the next few months i will be selling on here a superb selection of rare Soul, Jazz, Funk and Latin LP's, acquired from a serious enthusiast who is trimming his collection down! Most are in fantastic collectors condition, and most are original pressings unless otherwise stated... Artist: THE O'KAYSIONS Title : GIRL WATCHER Format : stereo LP Label : ABC Records, USA (ABCS-664) Year : 1968 Style : Northern Soul, Carolina Beach Music Info : Rare original US pressing LP of classic blue-eyed soul and pop by this North Carolina group, who started off as The Kays in 1959 playing Spiritual and Country music for the coastal sections of North Carolina.This is a lovely copy and an original issue with black grooved labels!The album was produced by legendary songwriter, arranger and producer, Johnny Pate. Pate played an important role in the development of the legendary sound of Chicago Soul during his stint at Okeh Records, when hired by producer, Carl Davis, another key figure of Chicago Soul.Comes in original card paste-on picture sleeve which is still in shrink-wrap, and has original company inner sleeve.Ten tracks:- -side 1: LITTLE MISS FLIRTSUNDAY WILL NEVER BE THE SAMELOVE MACHINEMY BABY'S LOVEGIRL WATCHER -side 2: MY SONG (POOR MAN'S SON)HOW ARE YOU FIXED FOR LOVE?DEDICATED TO THE ONE I LOVETHE SOUL CLAPDEAL ME IN Vinyl has hardly been played at all with side 1 in excellent++ condition and plays through smoothly with just one split-second burst of mild background noise near the end of the first track. Side 2 is mostly the same but has four split-second bursts of surface noise during the first four rotations of the first track, and then about ten much quieter short background bursts during the rest of the side, although these aren't too noticeable, and everywhere ales the side plays smoothly. I have listened to both sides all the way through, and think these minor faults are cause by the pressing and are not from play wear.Labels are perfect and i'm struggling to find any spindle marks! Sleeve in near mint condition - is still in factory shrink-wrap and looks superb! Has a very small hole punched throughout the top right corner.Inner sleeve has a small split in the bottom and one of the side spines, but is otherwise of a near mint condition. The small hole punched through the outer sleeve has also gone through one of the top corners of the inner.
