You are bidding on one interesting ogee wood molding or moulding plane as pictured.It is marked "J W KENDALL" and "G U V MILES" on the front end, MILES twice again on the left side, and MILES again on the back end. There is also a note written in red felt pen on the right side that looks something like CAMPATH VT. Overall length is about 9-7/16", and the body is about 1-3/4" in width.There are lots of Kendalls who made planes in both the US and England, but I can't tell you anything about J W.Condition is very good, except for several large checks in the back end. There are some nail holes from a long removed fence, some staining on the right side, and a rough looking wedge due to a knot right at the top.SHIPPING MOULDING PLANES: The typical moulding plane will weigh a bit over one pound when boxed, and ships at the two pound rate. Within the US, that costs $11.20. But I can get 6 to 8 typical width moulding planes into one medium Priority Flat Rate box, and that costs $11.95 within the US. So the second plane ships for less than a dollar, and the next few after that ship for free. SHIPPING: 2 pounds when boxed. I tend to rotate back and forth between groups of metal planes and parts for them, and then groups of American and British molding planes, and then back to metallic planes again. But every so often I sneak in something else, such as chisels and gouges, bevels and squares and gauges, books about tools and reprint catalogs, and a variety of other tools. So I might not have any chisels for a month, and then have 30 or 40 chisels all listed at the same time. So please keep watching my auctions! If I think the wedge on a molding plane is not original, I will tell you. If I think a japanned plane has been repainted, I will tell you. What goes around, comes around.
