Kent Melton MGM Tex Avery RED HOT 9" Height SIGNED & #ed LE Animation Statue KENT MELTON Hey Wolfie! (1995) cold-cast porcelain, 9" x 4.5"-diameter base in box Droopy, the Wolf, and Red are the most memorable characters from the animated cartoons directed by Fred "Tex" Avery for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer from 1943 to 1955. Many of these cartoons were made for adults first and children as an afterthought. "Tex" Avery was the undisputed master of the genre, and in 1943's Red Hot Riding Hood he introduced audiences to Red, the sexy and curvaceous star of The Sunset Strip nightclub. Her rendition of Hey, Daddy created a sensation, and she proved so popular that she returned to the screen in five more films. Animated by Preston Blair, her singing and dancing drove audiences (primarily lustful wolves and Droopy) to distraction, eliciting from them a plethora of unforgettable sight gags. Artist Kent Melton, the leading sculptor of animated characters for the past 25 years, has portrayed Red's flirtatious essence in three dimensions as she appeared in her debut performance. A limited edition of 750 cold-cast porcelain sculptures was produced from Melton's original work: each is numbered on the underside and packed in a decorative box.
