First Crack Geodes Presents : The Keokuk Geode: Iowa's State Rock Location: loaded creek Description: yellow/orange chalcedony geode half Up for sale is this SUPER RARE geode half from the Keokuk area. The geode was opened naturally by the creek. This is a first. I have never seen a Keokuk geode with this color of chalcedony before. This is not a stain. It's a pale yellow/orange color most likely caused by botryoidal iron mixed in with the botryoidal chalcedony (micro-crystalline quartz). I've taken some extreme close-ups so you can see this is a thin layer that has grown on the underlying quartz crystals. This is a very rare geode, you may never see one like this again. Please visit my eBay store for more beautiful Keokuk geodes! The geode measures 7" by 7" and weighs 6 pounds.
