COINAGE of the SULTANS of KILWA.The Photographs have been taken of a SINGLE COIN (picked at Random) from KILWA COINS that emanate from a HOARD of 309 COINS 'FIND' of 1982 (during my Residence in Tanganyika/Tanzania 1948-1985) that was acquired equally by myself and a Friend (a BUTTERLY COLLECTOR) in the Year of the Find from a Pemba Resident who discovered the Hoard on Kilwa Island. It appears that my Half was a greater proportion (quantitively) than the numbers kept by my friend who was originally offered the Hoard during one of his Butterfly 'WEEK-ENDS' in the Bundu. My HALF, which by recollection was near the two hundred mark, has been at length acquired in the greater part through Ebay offerings and Private sales to Enthusiasts of this very recently recognised Coinage of Great East African Historical Interest - having acquired a legitimacy through the article by Dr.J.Walker "The History and Coinage of the Sultans of Kilwa" that appeared for the First time in the Numismatic Chronicles 1936, a result of the Study of Coins abandoned by the Germans at the Rufiji at some time during WWI that were handed over to the British Museum for Study and Analogy.
