You are bidding on an exceptional early vase form by widely heralded North Carolina (Catawba Valley) potter Kim Ellington. DESCRIPTION: This beautifully thrown form has an elegant heart shaped body with a wide rounded shoulder and a nicely flared rim. The clay body is white stoneware and the glaze is a creamy off white which the potter used as a canvas for a series of gray and brown hook-shaped decorative brush markings. There are also two well-placed blue/gray concentric circles just above the base. The vase stands 8 ½” tall and measure 6” at its widest. It is in mint condition- no chips, cracks or repairs- and has the potter’s incised “GKE” signature on the bottom.
