From my personal vintage jewelry collection:Kenneth Jay Lane created this beautiful faux pearl, enamel and rhinestone panther necklace, spring-clamper bracelet, and matching pierced earrings set designed for Avon. It is from his collection of the Duchess of Windsor/"Moguls" pieces. In 1986 he began designing a line of costume jewelry for Avon, just like Elizabeth Taylor, and so very many others. Kenneth J. Lane is also famous for his very own and unique faux pearls that look just like the real thing. This necklace is no exception, the faux gray pearls look just like rare Tahitian pearls that are very expensive. This strand is not graduated, all the pearls are the same large size - approximately 11-12mm except for the two on each end that are smaller to make operating the barrel clasp easier. The necklace measures approximately 19" long end-to-end. T are also two rhinestone rondelles - one on each side of the majestic panther face. The face is exquisitely done in gray marbled enamel on a solid goldtone base, with oval cabochon faux emerald green eyes, 1" line of pave rhinestones down the center to the nose and a goldtone door knocker that actually moves is held in the mouth. The back of the panther head is stamped KJL For Avon. The measurement of the face alone from top to bottom of the ring is just under 1-3./4". Measurements across read more
