Brand new with all tags. Manufactured in 2007. The cutest baby polar bear. Produced by Kosen of Germany to celebrate the birth and handrearing of "Knut" (pronounced Ca-Noot) at Berlin Zoo. The real-life Knut was born on December 5th 2006 and was the first polar bear born in Germany in 30 years and he became an international celebrity after being abandoned by his mother (Tosca). He was one of twins but, sadly, his sibling died after both cubs had been abandoned by Mum on a rock. Zookeepers scooped up both cubs with a fishing net but Knut's twin died. Knut spent 44 days in an incubator and was bottle-fed every few hours by his devoted keeper and then moved on to solid food and thrived. With web pages, podcasts and weekly updates on local news, he became a huge attraction in Germany. Kosen's designers had been observing polar bears in Berlin Zoo for many years and those studies had been the basis for Kosen's polar bear soft animals for some time, some of them had even received design awards. It was therefore very fitting the Kosen should produce this gorgeous little bear to celebrate Knut. He is made from high quality plush and is very soft and cuddly.
