This is a Korean YI Dynasty (1392-1910) Lock made of brass, used on a blanket chest (Bundaji). The lock is functional and almost impossible to pick. The Chinese characters on the lock read as follows: On the top it reads Bright Sunshine. On the bottom from right to left it reads 100's of happiness throughout your life. This is one of the finer locks I have seen. It is heavy, weighing almost two pounds. It has the original key which is unusual. It is approximately 5 1/4" wide, 2 15/16" high and 1 1/4" thick. The opening is 2 7/8" wide, 1" high and the shaft is approximately 1/4" thick. All items that I offer on eBay were purchased by my wife and I when we lived in South Korea from 1966 until 1974 and again from 1976 until 1985. If you are not pleased with your purchase, you may return it within seven days as long as it is in the same condition that I sent it. I will refund your purchase price. You pay only the shipping and handling costs. I pack with only new boxes and use bubble plastic (sometimes along with polystyrene peanuts). My shipping and handling charges rarely cover my actual cost. If you buy multiple items, I might be able to ship several items in one box and reduce the shipping charges. Happy bidding!
