Mixed media Kozuka handle with bamboo blade depicting a hoe lying in a rice paddy with birds perched on the handle. One bird is perched atop a Jingasa which has fallen in the paddy (can't tell if someone's head is wearing the hat). The hoe blade, birds and rice stalks are rendered in brass over a Nanakoji or raised dot backgound. The ura is well patinated copper.
