FOR SALE BY AUCTION - One Krag Springfield full-length stock and handguard set for Model 18 98 rifles , in very good original condition. Very nice matched set; the handguard is for the Model 1898 or 1902 rear sight. Original wood, these have not been sanded. With very nice JSA 1901 arsenal cartouche, and strong 'Circle P' firing cartouche, plus an inspector's stamp (appears to be a 'V' or 'Y'). There are dings on the left side of the stock, one near the front of the fore end, and one under the finger groove. See pics. No cracks in the stock, but a very small piece has chipped off the very top of the small vertical 'tower' forward of the bolt handle cutout on the right side (see picture #9)- but good news, I have included an appropriate repair piece (also in photo #9), taken from the same exact area from an original but messed up sporterized stock; the piece has nearly identical color and wear to the tower, and is a bit oversized in height, so with some careful wood work this area of the stock could be nicely restored without much difficulty. (However this little restoration may not be too important to many, as the area is hard to notice when the rifle is complete). There is one very fine hairline crack on the upper front of the handguard; barely noticeable but I need to mention it. You can put together a nice Model 1898 rifle with read more
