Visit the project web site toread some of these great interviews and learn about ways you can helpPatrick in his mission to preserve these veteran oral histories!This is an auction for a CD-ROM containing scans of 20+ ORIGINAL GERMAN UBOAT GRID MAPS. During the war these maps were top secret material compiled by the Kriegsmarine to assist in the navigation of German Uboats over the radio during operations. Basically how it worked was that one map would be on the uboat and the other at Kriegsmarine HQ, and the HQ would direct the boat by telling them over the radio which boxes in the grid to move to, or the boat would update the base on their location by in kind telling them what grid box they were in. Since the Allies didnt have a copy of these secret maps, they couldnt determine w the boats were. The Allies couldnt crack this system unless they captrued copies of these maps which was very difficult to do, and even if they did, the Germans could just print new maps with a new grid system.
