This is a very nice L & JG Stickley Morris rocking armchair. According to Jerry Cohen of Craftsman Auctions, it is an early design of theirs. T is no signature that I can see but I haven't taken it down to the frame, either. The chair remains exactly as I purchased it as it came from a local home. The finish is original to the oak, the seat back and cushion having been recovered in the 1930s/40s. Pinned construction throughout legs, nice arched design to stretchers and slatted sides. This is a very comfortable chair! It would look fantastic if someone were to recover in leather and clean up the finish a bit. T is evidence of old upholstery tacks to the seat back & sides (see photos) and some general use wear to edges & rockers. Widest point (at arms): 30" H: 36" D: 33" Will NOT ship, however buyer may arrange for a carrier to pickup & crate at their expense. Available for pickup in Center City, Philadelphia. Please see my other auctions for some additional Arts & Crafts antiques that I'm moving along.
