L. S. Starrett # 380 steel straight edge, measuring 6 foot by 3" by 5/16" in good condition. The steel straight edge bears the L. S. Starrett imprint and the 380 designation. This Starrett item has a custom made hinged wooden case to store and transport the straight edge. The Starrett 380 is very durable and will last a lot longer than I will. Shipping via UPS ground to the lower 48 only, $40 shipped or local pickup. I am selling this item without return privilege due to the cost of shipping. Please bid accordingly. In response to some questions, let me add some further description of this steel edge. If the steel edge is supported at both ends, with the plane of the 3" dimension(and the 6')horizontal, the weight of the piece will bow it. If the plane of the 3" and 6' dimensions are vertical, I can not detect a deviation from straight. This makes sense, since the strentgh of the piece resists strain and stress better across the 3" dimension than the 5/16" dimension. Just because I can not detect a deviation from straight does not mean that it is perfect. I do not operate a physics lab nor do I have access to esoteric instrumentation to measure a 6' span to micron tolerances.
