LOT # 157 Detailed Photos Estate Road Show L157 ANTIQUE 1873 OIL PAINTING MASSACHUSETTS SHORE - WILLIAMS + EVERETT BOSTON Item Description We are pleased to offer this Antique Framed Oil Painting of a Massachusetts or New England Coastal View. Initialed C.N. and a date of 73 for 1873. From the prestigious Boston Gallery of Williams & Everett in Boston Massachusetts, their label en verso, helping us to accurately date this painting to prior to 1885. In the magnificent carved and gilded Original Period Frame. There is some age related crackleture to painting, but this painting displays nicely. Williams & Everett (est.1855) in Boston, Massachusetts, was an art dealership run by Henry Dudley Williams and William Everett. The firm sold original artworks by many American Artists like George Inness, Albert Bierstadt and European Artists like Rosa Bonheur and Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, as well. It also continued the mirror and picture frame business that had been established earlier by the Doggett brothers.Gallery founder Dudley Williams had worked for John Doggett & Co., 1816-1855. "John Doggett retired from the firm in 1845, and his brother Samuel in 1854, and the business was reorganized, the manufacture of mirror and picture frames being continued under the name of Williams & Everett, who added the branch of paintings, etc. Williams
