. 1954 Aeronautical Chart of Lake Erie area US Air Force Edition, map 309 Up for auction is a great vintage aeronautical chart from 1954. It is of the Lake Erie area and includes Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Cleveland Ohio, Detroit and Flint Michigan, Rochester New York, Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Toronto Canada and other cities. It is the US Air Force Edition and the size is 22" x 24". Complied and printed in Washington DC by the US Coast and Geodetic Survey under the authority of the Secretary of Commerce. It is the 19th edition and dated July 7, 1954. This is an original 53 year old map and is in excellent condition . It shows air traffic control areas, lakes and waterways, roads and highways, landmarks, rivers, mountains, and elevations. The back side is full of information such as aeronautical symbols, a World Aeronautical Chart index, US danger areas, Topographical symbols and much more. Interesting reading for anyone that loves maps, aviation, or is doing research about the area from that time period. Nice vivid colors, so it would look great framed.
