This large & ornate Service plate measures 11" diameter & graphics & coloration are just stunning......made during a time when service plates were being made with great attention to detail to grab the customer's attention & leave a lasting memory - AND, obviously often-times leaving the hotel! Please look at all the pictures & them. One of the most ornate & colorful designs I've seen on an early service plate.
The Cavalier Hotel was built in 1927 in Virginia Beach, VA. The oceanside resort features a golf course, beach club. Guests can go boating, fishing, surfing, horseback riding & play tennis. They also boast such amenities as a glass enclosed sea-water swimming pool.
Beautiful & ornate Large center scene showing a depiction of The Planting of the Cross at Cape Henry, Virginia. Outer rim of early clipper ships on the ocean with clouds in the background.
Plate is backstamped as shown with the Lamberton Scammell China mark &
