A British War Medal correctly impressed to: 51469 PTE. J. W. SLADE NORTH'D. FUS. From the 16th Batallion, 2nd Salford Pals website, "John William Slade was awarded the Military Medal posthumously for the action in the capture of Ramicourt (Hindenberg Line) on 2nd October 1918 during which he was mortally wounded and died of his wounds on 5th November 1918. The award was announced in the London Gazette on 15th May 1919." He is buried in Premont British Cemetery, France. Son of William and Elizabeth Slade of 18 Crosland Terrace, Helsby, Warrington, Cheshire. Born Bagillt, Flintshire Living Helsby, Cheshire Enlisted Chester. With copies of MIC, CWGC and SDGW.
