A photo-copy of an article from from the Market Rasen Mail dated 14 February 2001 .It explains that the Lancaster was returned to Wickenby in January 2001 .The bomber attacked Berlin on 30 January 1944 but was lost over Holland on its return from the mission following attacks by German fighters. The crash site was left undisturbed as a war grave until the site was required by the Dutch for expansion work. The site was excavated by the Royal Netherlands Air Force Salvage Team. After some work by Lincoln University the remains of the plane were relocated to Wickenby in January 2001. This was agreed on the understanding the 7 crew members names were included on the plaque and this is done on identity strip on the plaque and the Certificate. The plaque is sold to benefit Wickenby Museum and the Market Rasen Royal Airforces Association. I have assisted in selling the items on ebay over the last 3 years. They read more
