Up for sale is a copy of "The Land of the Veda: Being Personal Reminiscences of India." by Rev William Butler. It was published 1871 in New York by Phillips & Hunt and Cincinnati by Cranston and Stowe. This is labeled as "eight thousand" which makes it a very early copy of this book. The book has numerous illustrations and one color map of India that has been hand colored. Book is in Fair / Fair +condition with wear to the boards, particularly around the edges. The book is beginning to peel away from binding and is loose but in no imminent danger of falling out. Browning to the pages, some light staining in a couple places, the cloth is peeling on the outside spine chips and there is a large area of the back board that has been discolored through some sort of stain. About the bottom third. Still, pages are clean, map is in decent shape, no major rips or tears. A nice but not perfect copy of this rare text.
