This poster and buckle were created to promote and commemorate the Challenge of the Champions, the event where Lane Frost, the 1987 PRCA World Champion Bull Rider, competed against Red Rock, the 1987 PRCA World Champion Bucking Bull. This was a seven-event matchup in which Lane came out on top by completing 4 out of 7 rides.Sadly, Frost was killed moments after completing a successful ride on the Brahma bull Takin' Care of Business at the 1989 Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. Frost's death prompted his friend and traveling partner Cody Lambert to develop the safety vest worn by today's bull riders. Lane was also one of the original athletes involved in the founding of the PBR, though he passed away before its foundation.
