A beautiful and very large and impressive sterling silver HENNEGEN BATES & CO., 10 inch repousse and engraved round bowl made Circa 1900 . The bowl is beautifully and heavily repoussed with a variety of different flowers including roses and daisies, and a variety of leaves. The flowers and leaves are very detailed and are also engraved which makes them more lifelike. The bottom of the bowl has a row of large, beautifully detailed leaves and the rim is decorated with a well detailed and substantial shell and scroll design. The background is very finely hammered which brings out the detail even more clearly. The bowl stands on a pedestal base that is also decorated with flowers and leaves. The bowl measures a large 10 1/4 inches approx. and weighs a hefty 32 troy oz, - the bowl very substantial and it has a very solid feel in the hand. The condition of the bowl is excellent, the repousse detail is very crisp and sharp, as is the rim. T are no dings or dents or repairs or any other damage aside from the foot being slightly pushed in. T are a few very minor light scratches on the inside and it could do with a good polishing. T is an old scrolly monogram in the centre of the inside of the bowl. The bowl is marked STERLING, the HBC symbol, HENNEGEN BATES & CO.
