Large, solid 14K yellow gold Elgin pocketwatch circa 1904. This SOLID 14K GOLD HUNTING CASE ELGIN POCKET WATCH dates to 1904. We are jewelers but not experts in antique pocket watches so I'll do my best to describe everything and have included photos inside and out. The watch is ornately engraved on both sides, no monogram on the back. The face is white measuring 1 9/16" in diameter and bears the Elgin name; the hands are blued, the hour markers are black roman numerals and it also has 5-minute markers in red. It has a sweep second hand inset. The face is very clean with no cracks, the crystal appears to be a plastic replacement type with only a small scuff. The case measures 53mm (about 2 1/8") in diameter (not counting the stem) and it is in overall excellent condition with no dents or dings. The inside back cover is marked "Roy, 14K, 401130. The works cover bears the same marks. As indicated above, the watch is crafted of SOLID 14K YELLOW GOLD weighing 112 GRAMS in its entirety. And now for the works: The works bears the following marks: ELGIN NAT'L WATCH CO., SAFETY PINION, U.S.A., 11683543. It does not indicate how many jewels. The watch winds and runs smoothly and keeps excellent time for at least 24 hours on one winding. All my items are shipped in plush jewelry boxes ready for gift giving.
