Large 1950's Golden Oak Ex-War Department, 2-Drawer Office, Writing, Computer or Hobby Desk This is a large ex-military desk, of a type used in outposts all around the British Empire. It can be dismantled in less than five minutes, with the legs stored in a special compartment. It could then, no doubt, be loaded into the hold of am Imperial Airways Flying Boat, for transportation to a new garrison. There is a stencil on the under side reading "WD STAVERTON". Although the legs are detachable, it is of a very sturdy construction. The Desk measures 1,525 x 915 x 760mm (L, B, H) or 60 x 36 x 30". With the legs removed, it is 145mm or 5 & 3/4" deep. The top is covered in brown vinyl, which has crazed with age, although the surface is still smooth. There are a couple of cigarette marks, where some careless squaddie has dropped his fag; but considering its age, the overall condition is very good. Thank you for looking
