Now is a great find! This is a primitive, hand carved spoon that dates back to the 1860's or so. It measures a total of 17 1/4 inches long and 3 1/2 inches at its widest point. Given its size, it must have been used for cooking or serving very big meals, maybe for military units in the Civil War or as a dipper spoon for water. It's all one piece of wood, delicately carved with an original, aged patina that in some places, still shows the marks from the carving knife. It has a hook on the back of the handle for hanging on a rod. This spoon is in very good condition and is a rare, authentic, as-found item! The winning bidder adds postage. Good luck!
