Large albumen print of Edmond Cobb Charles of the 25th New York Infantry, and the 42nd New York Infantry. Mounted in period frame with period glass and actual wood acking. Frame is painted gold on wood. Matt looks very old too with two gold lines aorund the inside like a CDV would have. 11 1/2 " x 9 1/2". Photo is 6" x 8". Photo in excellent condition with even age toning throughout. He wears the uniform from the 42nd NY Inf as Colonel. Enlisted on May 19, 1861 at New York City as a Lt. Colonel. He mustered into Feild and Staff og the 25th NY Inf. and resigned on October 4, 1861. On December 18, 1861 at 37 years old, he enlisted a a Colonel and was commissioned into Field and Staff of the 42nd NY Inf. He was discharged for wounds on March 17, 1863. He was also listed as a P.O.W. on June 30, 1862 in Glendale, VA and was parolled due to sever wound received at the battle of Glendale, VA, June 30, 1862. He lived through that one and died from his wounds he received in Fredericksburg, on April 26, 1863 in New York. While he was alive, he would have been with the regiment at Yorktown, Glendale, Chantilly, Antietam and Fredericksburg.
