Copper & Brass - Large - Nautical Anchor Lantern. Ships at anchor signal their position with the classic anchor lamp. They typically have a 360 degree light radius and must be visible from 2 to 3 miles. This exceptionally heavy quality reproduction is made in copper with many solid cast brass details. It could easily be converted to an electric lantern. This handsome piece can be attached by the rings, one on each side or by the Anchor rope handle itself. It is a vintage reproduction item since it serves also as an ice bucket - see photos. Although it is reproduction, it appears to have a mark of "Denmark" on it, but too faint to make out - it has been stored for over 20 years and some areas have begun to get patina. We cleaned up the copper and brass on top - see photos showing before and after - it cleaned up nicely. The glass lantern portion is in excellent condition - no cracks, chips or anything...just needs a bath! The lantern stands 15" high, excluding anchor rope handle. The diameter is 26.5", and it weighs approximately 10 pounds. What a great addition to a nautical collection, or as a working piece or art for your boat.- !
