Hello there and welcome to all We have found a very special old character for you here! A lovely large antique pine chest which can be used in numerous ways! Please This is a lovely original victorian antique piece and superbly made with dovetail joints...! This does have its lock but unfortunately no key....do not despair, a locksmith should be able to sort something out for you if you so wish.... There is a lovely jointed darker band running along the back and front..... perfect for the centre of the room! On each side it has its large original iron handles for lifting, and you will notice the fabulous additional ornate handle / plate decorated with grapes to the front which not only finishes the look perfectly, but makes it so much easier for you to open the wide lid......and then you have a superb brass escucheon plate......just wonderful! The other great thing is that on the back it has its original block of wood which is so handy for the lid to rest on whilst open without putting any strain on the hinges! As you will see in the photos, not only is this handy for storing, but it looks a treat in almost any situation! This chest is a lovely large size giving plenty of storage space and can double up as a window / bathroom/ hall/ bedroom seat or bench! For those following the antics of old ted... well you will notice that his old pals Mickey and Larry Lamb have come to visit.......and Ted has prepared a lovely picnic basket for the "3 musketeers"as they now call themselves...laugh... to go off on a Teddy bears picnic......or should we say teddy/lamb/mouse picnic....laugh!!! In the lounge it can double up as a coffee table...inside you can keep your cds / dvds /.....old vinyl records......(the old vinal Lp's are coming back in vogue have you still got your old deck?......you can't beat the good old days....laugh) books. In the bedroom and bathroom and hallway it adds that special feature and can double up as a seat which will help when trying to get your shoes off instead of jumping all over the place....you know how it is we have all done it!!! Inside there is plenty of room for blankets, towels, seasonal clothes when not in use, games and toys.........sure you can think of plenty more..... This is a wonderful size measuring approx 40 inches x approx 21 inches (not counting lid rest block) x approx 21 inches tall...Told you there was lots of room!!! This chest has lovely patina and its colour is wonderful Inside is clean and actually smells quite nice and not musty... had a good sniff for you (laugh)! ! Now this is an old chest, and has been well used over the years, the expected bumps and knocks are present with age....as you will see in the close up photos there are markings to parts of the top......this chest has been well treated and waxed!!!!....we always feel that the vintage signs add so much more to the authentic charm of these old pieces .... This is a very strong chest and weighs in at approx 4 stone of thick solid pine!!! On the underside it sits on two ski like runners....great for air circulation.....laugh.... Overall a fabulous looking item which would add so much character to any home....and of course very handy too! As this is quite a size and weight the postage charge will be for courier to mainland UK....unfortunately the couriers charge extra for offshore and Scottish Highlands which seems so unfair but that is the way they work!!..we always put something towards the cost which we hope helps a little...you are of course welcome to collect if you would prefer Better pop and check on old ted to see how the "three musketeers" are getting on with their picnic....well hasn't Ted done well...along with the ususal goodies, he added special treats too.....cheese for Mickey Mouse, daisy chains for Larry lamb and lashings of honey for himself.....laugh!!!!... read more
