The brass is applied to a wood backing which is framed with wood molding. Over the years the brass has developed a very dark patina. The only problem with this brass is a shallow dent to the lady’s nose, and a crack in her left eye from a past mishap. You can see this problem in the close up photographs. There is also a chip to the wood at the very peak of this mirror. All of the mirror glass has to be original; you would have to take this mirror apart to replace any of the smaller side pieces. On the back, you can see the true age of this 19 th century mirror. The backboard is missing as is one of the slant wood praces plus there is an old repair to a shrinkage line on the right hand side. ......
