Beautiful, Large, Antique Victorian Carved Lava Cameo featuring the lovely Goddess of Night, Nyx. She is carved in high relief--note how the folds of her headdress curve around behind her face in fabulous dimension! She is right-facing, wears a head covering with finely detailed folds. In the foreground is an owl with wings outstretched and nice detailing to the feathers. The cameo is set in a 14 karat gold setting with twisted gold rope trim. It can be worn as a brooch or a pendant. It is in Very Good condition. I see one little chip on left side of owl's head. Larger size measures 1 3/4" x 1 3/8" and is 7/16" in total depth. Rare!
