A LARGE BRASS BOUND VICTORIAN ROSEWOOD WRITING SLOPE WITH SECRET DRAWERS You are viewing a large Victorian rosewood veneered brass bound writing slope with brass escutcheon and cartouche; with secret drawers, brass candle holders and pair of glass brass topped ink wells in good condition. Externally the condition is commensurate with age and has a nice patination, there is no major damage, warping, cracks, splits; but there has been some very minor filler repairs undertaken in the past at the near the hinges (see photos 7 & 8), small areas at the rear of the lid in 2 places (see photos 11 & 12), and at the lock which has been caused by forced entry at some time (see photos 2 &10), also there a few little localised dints to the brass banding on the lid see photos 3, 11 & 12; but these defects do not detract from the appearance of this fine old box. Please see all photographs for overall condition. The box has its original lock in working order with a replacement key; Internally the condition is fine with no major damage or missing bits (see photos); the black leather skiver to the writing slopes has been replaced at some time and is in good condition except for a little rip near the hinge see photo 4 .
