Devonian Trilobite From Morocco:This is a very l arge, detailed, professionally prepared Devonian fossil trilobite from the Hamar Laghdad Formation of Alnif, Morocco.All parts very unusually well defined.1.8 pounds, including the matrixHead to tail 5"Across 3"Limestone matrix measures 6" by 4.5"The Matrix is limestone with quartz stringers.Authentic Phacops trilobites such as these are found by breaking apart large masses of hard rock to find the Trilobites in crevices inside.Once located, the matrix rock is carefully cleaned back to expose the fossilized Trilobite skeleton.It dates from the Paleozoic Age, about 450 million years old.Trilobites are extinct arthropods.They had a heavy exoskeleton composed of calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate minerals, and protein, therefore leaving behind a well preserved fossil record.Great fossil Trilobite specimens are for display and study.
