I'm honestly not sure what this is: it is greenish-grey colour (slightly greener than the photos indicate). Definitely not a Charnley Forest. Could be a Llyn Idwal or possibly a variety of Tam o' Shanter / Water of Ayr perhaps? From the photos I've seen of hones that people think could be a Cutlers Green, this looks very similar (the blueish dots and streaks seem to be a CG feature). The back face has glue attached: the stone was either glued in a box, or possibly fixed to another stone to form a combination hone. Top face is very flat. with the usual chips around the edges. There are a few small nicks to the face, but these could easily be lapped out. I have rubbed the face with 320 W & D and water, and it produces a viscous pale grey slurry. I have wetted the face with Glycerin for the photos, which hopefully shows the markings better. Unfortunately I'm not a shaver, so I can't test it on a razor, but it does a nice job on my penknife. Approx size 8" x 2 1/8" x 5/8" (204 x 54 x 16mm). Weight approx. 520g. Let me know if you have any queries. I am also selling a smaller hone which looks like it is the same material.
