Japanese Satsuma VasebyKinkozan A very large and intricately hand painted Japanese Satsuma vase, made circa 1880 century by Kinkozan. This piece measures 18.25" tall, and has a diameter of 5.5" at the base. It was made during the Meiji era in Japan, and is a signed Kinkozan piece of the Awata school from Kyoto.This is a great example of late 19th century Japanese ceramics. This vase has an architectural - scenic design, with figures, which has many details and seems to tell a story when all of the vignettes or images are combined.This vase features very ornate traditional designs, including village scenes with women, landscapes, birds, and Buddhist Scholars. All of the figures are outlined with gold paint, and t are many areas as well w the applied white color is very thick, like the impasto of a painting. Additionally t are many floral and precision painted abstract motifs covering the vase.It is in very good condition, with no chips, damage, hairlines or restoration. The only metionable thing is some minor wear to some areas, but this is barely noticable.This vase will be carefully wrapped and double-boxed for safe arrival to its new owner.
