Base WEIGHT: 14 Pounds (Unpackaged)This Beauty is Nearly 120 Years Old !!!. This listing is for a striking original cast statue from the 1897 Heilbronn Exhibition in Germany. The piece is both signed by the artist and labeled with the stamp of the Exhibition. The Heilbronn Exhibition of Art, Industry and Trade took place from May 15-September 12, 1897. The Exhibition was held in a large area of east Heilbronn, Germany and utilized the exhibition hall "Harmonie". Although many exhibitors were from Heilbronn, Wurttemberg and other German states several European vendors participated as well. There were 318 exhibitors and countless paintings and sculptures were offered for sale during the Exhibition. We have not yet been able to identify the signature on this statue but the artist was probably from France as the piece has a decidedly French look to it.The semi-nude piece is quite LARGE standing 19" tall and over six inches across at the base. It is made of white metal with a dimpled finish and has wonderful original applied patina. The detail is simply outstanding as she strikes a coy pose at the sea shore. She is sitting on a towel atop a rock formation with flowing water and flowers about her feet. The figural is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs and only very light wear to the finish. There is some separation on the underside where the statue is bound to the circular base (inside perimeter) but it is absolutely solid. The metal is very heavy (approx 14 pounds, unpackaged) and the weld is secure. You will not be disappointed in the great 19th Century statue.
