Vintage African Wood and Metal Inlay Tribal Mask Ghana Primitive DecorBeautiful vintage tribal mask from Ghana. Mask made from 1 piece hard wood by master cravers from Akan Tribe. Mask is 17" long and 8" wide, has hammered metal (they use brass, copper and aluminum), semi closed eyes and open mouth. Eyelids have metal accents, wood on piece dark brown. Back has leather hanging tag. This piece is distinguished by amount of metal used and is in great vintage condition.I have other African Masks listed, these all came from estate of world traveler.Akan (Fante and Ashanti) Tribes of GhanaThe largest ethnic group of Ghana includes the Akan tribes, who account for nearly half of the country's population. Other notable characteristics of the Akan, Ashanti, and Fante people of Ghana include extravagant funerals and an extremely fine tradition of craft production. Some of the most famous African masks, sculptures, and furniture are crafted from the hands of Ashanti carvers.Please note, I strive to describe items as accurately as possible, I will accept returns, however buyer will pay return shipping and small restocking fee on vintage items, please expect that vintage items will have wear and imperfections.
