This wonderful jardiniere was made in the early 1900's by Weller pottery company . It is a fine example of their "Jap Birdimal" line and features embossed stylized deep blue trees against a Caribbean blue background. The color shades from dark to light, bottom to top, and continues over the rim into the interior w it blends to a creamy white. It stands 8.75" tall x 10.5" across its widest point and is impressed "WELLER" on the bottom, which is white as well. With regards to condition, t are 3 small areas on the rim, as shown in the photos, which have been overpainted presumably for restoration purposes. One other rim area has a very small paint-miss under the glaze. Also, about 3/4 of the rim has more of a matte finish feel than gloss, but is only obvious to the touch. It has typical overall crazing inside & out and slight water staining on the interior. These faults are fairly insignificant & do not detract from the use or display of this splendid jardiniere. Otherwise this fabulous 100+ yr. old piece of art pottery is in very good condition. T are no chips or cracks, the whimsical artistry is delightful and the coloration, superb.
