This is an extremely rare original photograph USAF twin-boom Lockheed Lightning fighter-bombers at a wartime Belgian airfield. Two aircraft are taxiing out on the snow-covered field, with others parked other side. The photograph is approximately 10 x 8 inches, and is in Fine condition, with the original negative number printed in white at the lower right-hand corner. On the reverse is the original undated USAF caption which reads: "USAF Lockheed P-38 fighter-bombers, each carrying two 500-lb bombs, taxiing out for a take-off on a dive-bombing mission. This specific mission was armed reconnaissance on tank and motor transport of Von Runstedt's December salient, which at this time was within 15 miles of this airfield in Belgium."
