Larry Tycksen was Sherman Smith's son-in-law. He started making wooden dolls after he retired from the USPS in 1990. By 1993, he became well recognized in the doll world as a proficient and talented wood carver like his father-in-law Sherman Smith. He made dolls using Sherman Smith's patterns and also created many designs and styles of his own. He, like Mr. Smith, wanted people to be happy with his work . Unfortunately, there aren't many of his dolls as he unexpectedly passed away in 2011. His work is highly desirable. The quantity is very limited and collector's treasure them. This tuck comb is 6 inches tall and is jointed at shoulders, elbows, hip and knees. It is signed and dated on the back "Larry Tycksen 1/2001". The doll's features are artistically carved, masterfully painted and the joints so perfect it is easy to pose. The doll was beautifully dressed by Larry's wife, Lois. Please look closely at the many pictures as they are part of my description. The under garments, half slip and pantaloons, are sewn on so I did not undress the doll to take pictures.
