This is a Late War or Last Ditch Japanese army officer's sword. It was captured by a veteran after the invasion of Okinawa. This can be shown by the "certificate" given to the soldier (shown in pictures) showing that it was in his possession prior to the end of the war, the certificate is signed and stamped showing he was in XXIV Corps, if you google that group it shows they were involved in the invasion of Okinawa. The original certificate is included with the sword. The sword has a reasonably clean blade but the mounts are very "rough" and clearly something that used for home defense or at the very end of the war. It is great to have items that have a relationship to history. Sword: overall length 38" cutting edge 25". Blade is not signed but has a number written on it. The handle is plain wood with a couple of metal bands, the scabbard black painted wood that is split held together by some metal bands. The whole thing is quickly/poorly made, but the blade seems decent. It is NOT modern a replica, it is a late WWII sword Offered with no reserve so the market can set the value. I may be adding some other items so please check other items. You can email me through eBay or at with questions or if you need a specific picture (i will need your email address for pictures).
