is avery nice silver brooch created by Laurence Foss, who studied jewelry making with neighbor Edward Oakes, one of the true greats of Arts and Crafts jewelry. Foss also worked for George Jensen USA. Foss recalls helping Oakes create his famous silver jeweled casket on display at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. This three-sided brooch features a graceful heart-shaped leaf and is in the soft brushed-type surface in which so much of Fossâe(tm) jewelry is created. It is made of two separate pieces of silver, the âeoeframeâe part having been soldered to the backing, which is visible along the outer edges with magnification. The brooch measures just over 1 1⁄4 in. tall and is approx. 1 in. wide. The reverse has Fossâe(tm) LF logo as well as the word Sterling and the numbers 450, likely a model number. Condition is excellent, with the safety clasp in good working order. The brooch has the type of surface scratches one would expect to see in a pin of this age. Please look carefully at all of our photos. Perhaps you would care to add this Foss brooch to your jewelry collection or give it as a very special gift.
